It’s been a minute. Here’s some tasty boom bap hip hop for y’all. I sampled a great 60’s Southern Soul song by William Bell called Forgot to be Your Lover. It was originally released in 1968 on Stax Records.

I ran the track through Izotope RX Music Rebalance and got rid of the bass and drums, leaving me with an isolated vocal track and a track with guitar and strings on it. I chopped both of those up and got some really cool string one shots and some really rad vocal chops.

I made the drums using samples from Splice. I used the Hype Synth plugin that’s built into the MPC to get the bass and synth lead.
